Mindstrip-Polymere

Artist:
Mindstrip
Release:
Polymere
Label:
Echozone

"Polymere" begins in a sweet, nostalgic way:wind-like melodies and whispering vocals set the tone, obviously.Electronic melancholy would be a fitting term,if I had to use one, that is."Anybody Out There" is an existentially charged title, therefore the music portraying it is gentle and moody,as expected. As should be.Whatever..

Let It Die

Sonic Revolution

Well, initially I was trying to guess on the sound of this band:I mean,Hot Mama? How would a band going under that name sound like?Questions,questions..and answers, naturally! While this project has its roots in the alternative rock field, there are also lots of metallic elements to be found in these songs.

Red Sun Revival-Embers

Red Sun Revival
Release:
Embers
Label:
Echozone

Now,what do we have here?Red Sun Revival is an english quartet(including one greek,in their ranks!).Having released their debut in 2012,the band is in the process of releasing their sophomore full length effort."Embers" is a 4-track ep,that obviously serves as a teaser for their forthcoming album.Their music could be loosely described as dark wave.To use a different characterisation,I'd say that they somehow bridge the gap between gothic rock and indie rock.

Vaselyne-The Fire Within

Artist:
Vaselyne
Release:
The Fire Within
Label:
Echozone

Vaselyne choose to dress their sounds in  black and white colours,as depicted thoroughly on the album cover. This chromatic antithesis is very valuable into uncoding their art, stylistically speaking.Indeed, this work could serve as an introduction(as well as an exercise,at the same time)to feelings of melancholy and gloominess.

Musique Noire
Label:

"Musique Noire" is Avoid-a-void's latest release, following "Abyss Desires",which was released, back in 2009.Now,I do not know how many of you are familiar with this band.To those of you who are not,I should propably inform you that they specialise in delivering a melodic branch of synth pop.Thankfully though, they are far from being yet another typical,mediocre,synth-driven band. What separates them from the pile of clones and copycats that are to be found within this genre,is a rather simple, yet crucial, factor:the quality of their material. That alone is a sub

Well,Tiny Boys...There must be something nice going on in Sweden, really, musically speaking,at least! The reason for making this statement is that I've listened to a lot of swedish bands lately, who have literally exceeded my expectations. And believe me,by that I do not mean the famous ones...To our topic then:this band's music could be categorised as an eclectic blend of energetic indie/post punk rhythms, full of melody, along with Camilla Karisson's gorgeous voice.

Mundtot-Spatsommer

Artist:
Mundtot
Release:
Spatsommer
Label:
Echozone

What we are dealing here is Mundtot's debut full length. This band obviously comes from Germany, something evident since their compositions are sang in their native tongue.Prior to this disc, they had released an ep,which was simply called"Endzeit".This band's orientation could be traced along the lines of alternative rock,as well as modern gothic rock. The first thing that someone notices,is the central role that is reserved for Tino's vocals.Indeed,it is Tino Wagner's charismatic performance that ultimately leads these songs. Now,that certainly does not mean that ther
