Electro

interview-The Livelong June

We have the privilege to introduce one totally fresh group from Sweden that just released their first single and video clip. Their sound varies from electro to indie to synth pop, although they really don't want to categorize their music. Watch out for their new releases, in what we suspect could be one of the next big things.

Mindstrip-Polymere

Artist:
Mindstrip
Release:
Polymere
Label:
Echozone

"Polymere" begins in a sweet, nostalgic way:wind-like melodies and whispering vocals set the tone, obviously.Electronic melancholy would be a fitting term,if I had to use one, that is."Anybody Out There" is an existentially charged title, therefore the music portraying it is gentle and moody,as expected. As should be.Whatever..

Fatal Casualties-Psalm

Artist:
Fatal Casualties
Release:
Psalm
Label:
Seja Records

Well, sometimes pleasant surprises do happen, for sure! And,luckily, such is the case here:Fatal Casualties are a Swedish duo, moving along the lines of ebm and electro music,in general.Do not let these tags deceit you,though-the sounds that can be found on "Psalm" have more in common with the early, original ebm scene-Front 242,in particular,or even Klinik would be good reference points. What makes this band stand apart though,is the fact that they can compose great songs.

[De:Ad:Cibel]-Globalized

Artist:
[De:Ad:Cibel]
Release:
Globalized
Label:
Echozone

This is a band that has been reviewed,as well as interviewed by subexistance in the past.I wasn't the one that handled that review though, therefore I should start by saying that this project specializes into delivering electro/ebm for the most part. So,dancehall anthems is what someone would propably expect out of this album.

Ellipse-Verlorene Zeit

Artist:
Ellipse
Release:
Verlorene Zeit
Label:
Echozone

The guitar-related images accompanying this disc, roughly gave me the idea that Ellipse would propably bear a strong rock/metal influence,to begin with.At least, these were my initial thoughts, since I had not listened to this project's music, thus far.Nevertheless,as soon as I began listening to this album,I realized that my impression was wrong, since this disc opens up with a pulsing, ebm synth line, soon to be followed by beats and voices that lead to an electro song, not that distant to the archetype of this sound moniker.

Mindstrip-Beautiful Liar

Artist:
Mindstrip
Release:
Beautiful Liar
Label:
Echozone

I have to admit that this band took me by surprise, literally, upon hearing the first notes of the title track..A delightful poppy sense, with the needed crooner-like vocals to compliment this sound exposition. All in all,I was captivated by their sonic mood, instantly! But let me stress out some important details, for you, dear readers-firstly,this is an ep,containing 4 tracks.

Genetic Disorder-Sinusrhythmus

Artist:
Genetic Disorder
Release:
Sinusrhythmus
Label:
Echozone

Genetic Disorder describe their sound as "Evil Rave Music".Which is a pretty good description of their sonic output,I guess.Judging by this axiom,it is not that difficult to conclude on what's on display here:this german project unleashes an audio storm of club-friendly anthems.Hellektro, aggrotech, harsh ebm..call it as you may!In the end, this sound has somewhat been over saturated in the past.Yet,there is still a strong fan base, especially in Germany, that leans towards this type of electro aggression.

Voodoma-Bridges To Disturbia

Artist:
Voodoma
Release:
Bridges To Disturbia
Label:
Echozone

What we are dealing here is yet another Teutonic band, this time around emerging from Dusseldorf. It is more than obvious that Echozone has signed a lot of promising local bands, and Voodoma is no exception.I don't know how many of you have heard this band before-yet,Voodoma has existed for quite some time, having released four albums, already.

Minus Heart-The Big Idea

Artist:
Minus Heart
Release:
The Big Idea
Label:
Echozone

Minus Heart was a completely unknown moniker to me,to begin with. This project seems to associate itself to the contemporary electro/ebm scene, for the most part, adding some industrial rock parts to the mix, as well. This band emerges from Germany, which is a country that has so far presented many groups and artists connected to the aforementioned genres.Another thing that certainly needs to be mentioned,is the fact that this band's line up has changed drastically before this release, since almost all members have changed, except for Diver, who seems to be the driving force behind this project

Conscience-Your Frequency

Artist:
Conscience
Release:
Your Frequency
Label:
Echozone

Starting of,I need to state that the artwork accompanying this disc,is simply amazing!A beautiful digipack,in minimal, black and white overtones!Iknow,it is impossible to judge a book by its cover.Yet,my first impression upon seeing this cd,was overwhelmingly well, for that matter.Moving on,some needed information regarding Conscience should be given:this,in fact,is a solo project, led by Rudiger Illg, who started creating music, back in 1991.Which is a trully long period really,in during which he has released several albums,so far.
