Mystagog - of Old

Artist:
Mystagog
Release:
of Old
Label:
Neverheard Distro

Mystagog was founded in 2006 by well-known and genuine musicians Angmar and Thanatos (Grave) but it was not until this past December that the band released it’s first full lenght album featuring the appropriate tile ‘...of Old’.
These Hungarian black metallers are no strangers to the music scene, as they are pretty active musicians locally, but finally this is an anticipated delivery of some of Hungary’s darkest, old school necro black metal there is.

Silcharde - De Martyrs à Bourreaux

Artist:
Silcharde
Release:
De Martyrs à Bourreaux
Label:
FrozenWing Records

French underground label Frozen Wing records may be comprised by a few bands in its roster but everything I have heard by this label so far is of considerable quality, coming strictly for independent artists, who produce their own music themselves. Silcharde is definitely one of those bands, ‘De Martyrs à Bourreaux’ is a prime example of ethereal dark ambient music with a macabre feel that will surely haunt you.  A kind of audio-snuff movie.

Smohalla - Resilence

Artist:
Smohalla
Release:
Resilence
Label:
Arx Productions

There is definitely something in the water in France because there is no other way to explain the number and the quality of the bands that jump out of the country, one after the other offering such gems in extreme music.

Winterus - In Carbon Mysticism

Artist:
Winterus
Release:
In Carbon Mysticism
Label:
Lifeforce Records

American – based black metal has always been controversial. Their freshness is often summoned to make up for the lack of a European – standards atmosphere, and the collision through this less productive black metal era we are part of, is meeting no end. Michigan – based Winterus is an outfit caught somewhere in the middle: most expectations do collapse.

Iperyt - No State of Grace

Artist:
Iperyt
Release:
No State of Grace
Label:
Self - released

Polish musical scene has been an extreme nest for almost two decades now. Be it innovative or not, be it underground or quite the main stream’s followers, bands have flourished on the fertile Polish grounds that are, nonetheless, aggressive.

The Arch - Engine In Void

Artist:
The Arch
Release:
Engine In Void
Label:
Echozone

The Arch are definitely not newcomers in the Belgian electro/ new wave scene, since they formed back in 1986, in a small town called Breendonk, between Brussels & Antwerp. Although, their last full-length album (“In Sofa”) dates back to 1997, the band seems to be in great shape, judging by their most recent effort, “Engine In Void”.

Andreas Gross - Autumn Inventors

Artist:
Andreas Gross
Release:
Autumn Inventors
Label:
Echozone

My first notice concerning this disc was:yet another Echozone release for me to review! And a very good one,I might add..My second notice about it was how wonderfully titled this album is!I could say that"Autumn Inventors"almost sounds poetic to my ears. And what's more it perfectly fits as a description to the majority of the sounds exemplified within this cd.

Ecnephias - Inferno

Artist:
Ecnephias
Release:
Inferno
Label:
Scarlet Records

This is the third album from Italian band Ecnephias and it is under the microscope of subexistance. We took an in-depth look.

Ecnephias are self-proclaimed "representatives of the occult metal scene with mediterrenean elements". This is not far from the truth. Their music can best be described as gothic metal european-style, structurally similar to Paradise Lost, but with a distinct sound and approach reminiscent of Moonspell's and Rotting Christ's darker and melody-driven records.

Vendemmian - One In A Million

Artist:
Vendemmian

One In A Million

Both Vendemmian members are music veterans, who after a long-time musical break strike back to spare us some gothic sound, a sound that’s been missed as of late – with all these hybrids being released every day.
