Scarlet Soho-Hit The Floor-Favorites And Rarities

Artist:
Scarlet Soho
Release:
Hit The Floor-Favorites And Rarities
Label:
A Different Drum

This disc is a collection of this project's work, containing tracks from Scarlet Soho's previous efforts, including 6 previously unreleased songs,as well. Now,if I had to describe this band's sound,my guess would be that they move around a pop/electro spectacle, for the most part,at least.

Me.Man.Machine-Reviver

Artist:
Me.Man.Machine
Release:
Reviver
Label:
Echozone

This is a band coming from Switzerland-unfortunately I did not have the pleasure of hearing any of their material, until now that is."Reviver" seems to be a trully ambitious effort-something clearly evident by the very well presented artwork accompanying this release. And also by the fact that this album was mixed in London,by Gareth Jones(Depeche Mode,Can and Nick Cave are some of the artsits who have worked with him, previously).

Gedankenrasen-Innere Apokalypse

Artist:
Gedankenrasen
Release:
Innere Apokalypse
Label:
Echozone / Körperschall Records

This project shows its intentions right from start:synth lines and fast beats dominate the scenery, here.Electro is the name of the game, obviously.Strangely so,vocals are not delivered in a brutal, howling manor-opting instead for a type of clean, mechanical vocal performance.Something that fits the music quite well,in my opinion.

ΛΗΘΗ – Λήθη 12’ LP

Artist:
Λήθη
Release:
Λήθη
Label:
A cooperation among: Imminent Destruction Records (UK), Scarecrow Records (GRE), No Sanctuary Records (PL), Centipede Records (GRE), The Music We Create Records (GRE), Eye5 Records (GRE), Clean Head Records (GRE)

If lethe is equivalent to oblivion and concealment , this Greek trio’s matching name has to be making no use of self-reference, in fact quite the opposite. Same goes for the music included on ΛΗΘΗ’s first full-length 12’ LP, which appears as a tool of disenchantment and awakening.

Antediluvian-Λόγος

Artist:
Antediluvian
Release:
Λόγος
Label:
Nuclear War Now

By now,Antediluvian have already managed to surface as a leading force, when it comes to the re-emergence of dark, twisted death metal.Working and improving simultaneously, having released a handful of demos, eps, and split albums so far,not forgetting to mention their(crucial)debut full length(Through The Cervix Of Hawaah, under the moniker of Profound Lore records, respectively). Not wasting any time, they have unleashed their sophomore effort, using a greek word as a title, this time around:"Λόγος"was a much expected record, naturally, since quite a fuzz has been

Mindstrip-Beautiful Liar

Artist:
Mindstrip
Release:
Beautiful Liar
Label:
Echozone

I have to admit that this band took me by surprise, literally, upon hearing the first notes of the title track..A delightful poppy sense, with the needed crooner-like vocals to compliment this sound exposition. All in all,I was captivated by their sonic mood, instantly! But let me stress out some important details, for you, dear readers-firstly,this is an ep,containing 4 tracks.

Avoid-a-void-Musique Noire

Artist:
Avoid-a-void
Release:
Musique Noire
Label:
Echozone

"Musique Noire" is Avoid-a-void's latest release, following "Abyss Desires",which was released, back in 2009.Now,I do not know how many of you are familiar with this band.To those of you who are not,I should propably inform you that they specialise in delivering a melodic branch of synth pop.Thankfully though, they are far from being yet another typical,mediocre,synth-driven band. What separates them from the pile of clones and copycats that are to be found within this genre,is a rather simple, yet crucial, factor:the quality of their material. That alone is a sub

Temple Nightside-Condemnation

Artist:
Temple Nightside
Release:
Condemnation
Label:
Nuclear Winter Records/Dark Descent

It is a fact that trends do exist, even within the boundaries of extreme metal. It is also easy to figure out that one of the "major" trends in the underground scene of today,is the appearance of the occult death metal sub-genre,along with the revival of muddy, twisted death metal,of course.Temple Nightside might propably be a totally unknown name to most of our readers, something logical perhaps, since "Condemnation" is their debut full length release. So far, this australian duo had released an ep,as well as a split 7" single, along with the mighty Antediluvian.Judging by

Rhombus-Here Be Dragons

Artist:
Rhombus
Release:
Here Be Dragons
Label:
Models Own Records

This is the first cd that I am reviewing this year, and I must admit that I am more than satisfied with this disc.In my review for their previous album,I had written that if they continue on this path, they would surely gain new fans, and, eventually get a step closer to the hugely famous british bands that were the pioneers of the gothic rock genre. An album such as "Here Be Dragons" puts all my doubts to rest.I have to say that I am very pleased about this disc, because they have certainly progressed a lot,so much that it perhaps exceeded my expectations. This is an album that would ce

Mystigma-Unzerbrechlich

Artist:
Mystigma
Release:
Unzerbrechlich
Label:
Echozone

Well,a good way to begin with this review, would propably be to state that I was positively impressed,by this band's name.As it certainly adds a dose of mystery, regarding this band.Since I was not aware of this project's existence so far,let me go on by describing their sonic output.
