Christine Plays Viola-Leocadia

Artist:
Christine Plays Viola
Release:
Leocadia
Label:
afmusic

For my first review for Subexistance I was asked to choose a band from afmusic, a German label working with underground dark wave and gothic bands. And since it was going to be my first review, I wanted it to be as positive as possible; therefore I picked an Italian band with a beautiful name, Christine Plays Viola. And the review is about their latest single-EP, “Leocadia”, which was released on 31 May 2013.

Lolita Komplex-All The Things She Said

Artist:
Lolita Komplex
Release:
All The Things She Said
Label:
Echozone

This is not a full length release,to begin with:what Lolita Komplex present us here,is a single release, containing one song,2 re-mixes of this track, along with a video,as a bonus. It is easy to realise that this is a very small,in terms of duration, release,as it stretches over 11 minutes.

Revolving Door-Milk & Honey

Artist:
Revolving Door
Release:
Milk & Honey
Label:
Fastball Music

Revolving Door is a band, contrived of four members, hailing from Thuringia,Germany.Their debut album,"Break the Line",was released back in 2010.Since then, they have toured quite a lot, having gained lots of experiences on stage,as they have performed live a lot,so far."Milk & Honey" is their sophomore effort, released by Fastball Music. What this band delivers is simple, yet solid:a branch of alternative rock, exceptionally well wrtitten and played,I should have to add.

Blowsight-Life & Death

Artist:
Blowsight
Release:
Life & Death
Label:
Fastball Music

In case most of you don't remember(which is a natural thing,of course),I had reviewed one of Blowsight's works once again,in the not-so-distant past, that is.What I do remember though,is that I was not exactly overwhelmed by their sonic arsenal, back then.Once more,Blowsight present a similar dilemma to me:while their songs are not bad at all, their music style though is not something special to me.To be more precise,I would have to say that this band's kind of eclectic mix,in between pop, punk and metal, ends up sounding a bit too commercial for my tastes.

Mundtot-Spatsommer

Artist:
Mundtot
Release:
Spatsommer
Label:
Echozone

What we are dealing here is Mundtot's debut full length. This band obviously comes from Germany, something evident since their compositions are sang in their native tongue.Prior to this disc, they had released an ep,which was simply called"Endzeit".This band's orientation could be traced along the lines of alternative rock,as well as modern gothic rock. The first thing that someone notices,is the central role that is reserved for Tino's vocals.Indeed,it is Tino Wagner's charismatic performance that ultimately leads these songs. Now,that certainly does not mean that ther

Yurei – Night Vision

Artist:
Yurei
Release:
Night Vision
Label:
Adversum

The fall 2012 finds, the brainchild of Norway’s very own, Bjeima returning with yet another obscure and highly nightmare-ish piece of art in the name of Yurei’s ‘Night Vision’.

I Bow Candles - The Outs & Breakdowns of Symmetry

Artist:
I Bow Candles
Release:
The Outs & Breakdowns of Symmetry

There have been acts around lately, whose genre classification is both harsh (actually ‘almost-impossible-to-be-apt’) and redundant. I Bow Candles certainly meet those terms, as, musically, they seem to be as diverse as one can get.

I BOW CANDLES

I Bow Candles like to call themselves a contemporary rock band based in Exeter, UK and darkly aging (if not bitterly extinct at this very moment) Athens, Greece. With their debut CD "The Outs and Breakdowns of Symmetry" coming out earlier this month, we felt the urge to sat down with the band’s charismatic singer Gareth Llewelyn in order to shed some light in our darkened minds about the band and his view of life in generall. Check it out.

VAINHARHA - PUREMA

Artist:
VAINHARHA
Release:
PUREMA
Label:
Self-Released

This band’s name comes out from the finnish word ‘Vainoharha’ which is the equivalent for paranoia. Usually, I avoid commenting on album covers or anything else apart from the music itself but this very album features an astonishing piece of work that deserves to be mentioned. What we have here is a digipack carton sleeve with an 8-page booklet picturing an amazing dark vintage landscape on its cover.
