Beyond The Dream
Beyond The Dream was founded in year 2001 and activated in year 2005. Band plays metal including the natural Finnish melancholy influences with the traditional dark-minded heavy rock content.
Harri Kauppinen the singer of the band answers some questions to subexistance.
Getting started, I would like you to tell me a few words about the creation and the development of the band.
-We've done many things with many bands before this group, so we have made many mistakes before this. It was kind of easier to form this crew. Of course we will learn more from this all the time and it will never end, wich is nice, heh!
Which are the current line up and how each one of you take part in the music composition?
Our current line-up is :
Petteri Kattainen - bass
Otto Närhi - keyboards
Rolf Pilve - drums
Teemu Liekkala - guitars
and myself on vocals
At the time we use method that Teemu compose the songs and he also does the first arrangements, when we start to play those songs as a band everybody can tell their opinions and suggest some changes if the song needs to be re-arranged...almost every time there is no need to do changes! After Teemu's demos i write and arrange lyrics on the song.
Give me some more details about your third album ?While The World Sleeps?
-While The World Sleeps - the latest masterpiece of ours, our first album we did everything by ourselves, songs and lyrics, of course but we did also all the recordings, mixing and mastering. By that album we catch the point we were trying to reach our entire career, y know! Next time we will do many thing by ourselves too.
How would you describe your musical sound?
-Our sound is a great combination of many styles, rock and roll, goth, black / death metal, alternative rock...and they all are gathered under the title "dark metal" wich is kind of hard to describe with more details, you know...you have to listen our songs and figure it out by yourself!
Have you noticed any improvements in your sound with your new album, that you wanted to make?
-Of course you want to do things better in the future than in the past...if you dont want to do anything there is reason to start making new album at all.
Which are the main themes of your songs? Who writes your lyrics?
-I write all the lyrics. Main theme is love as always, heh. The songs about women, heh.I write "The Sin Against The Sinners" as a concept album on the fall of mankind and "While The World Sleeps" is combination of eight horror/thrill stories in a way or another.Upcoming album will be kind of conceptualized too, but not so much as the "Sinners"-album...i will post the news on our website in the near future!
Are you pleased by the reviews so far?
-Yes we are! We have received so many good reviews...and it seems that people liked our latest release and of course that is pleasing to hear and read.
How difficult or easy is to bring the atmosphere of your albums on stage?
-I think it's kind of easy for us most of the times! We are more R'N'R band on stage than we are on the album, so our sound doesn't include so many things on live that on album...it's easier to handle!
What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and what are you listening to nowadays?
-I adore Cradle Of Filth...but also we have influences from bands sunch as Audioslave,The Rage Against The Machine and of course Lady Gaga!!!
How about your future plans?
-We are pre-producing our new album at the time and we will start the recordings later this year! In a month, we'll post the album title and also title for few songs on our website with the news related on upcoming release. So you should keep your eyes on us,heh!
A message to all the people that support you?
-We really appriciate your support!! Hopefully you'll like our upcoming album...if you like the last one i'm quite sure you'll like the new one too! Cheers!! You keep us alive, thanks a lot!!
Thank you Harri for the interview all the best
