Blue Velvet

 Blue Velvet was born in the 1999 from the meeting between Dohg (electro voice , guitar and programming) and Andy Head(electro guitar ). The basic philosophy of those musicians was to take inspirations from the industrial music already in commerce like Ministry, NIN, Einsturzende Neubauten , ecc... but with new characteristics.

When you formed as a band back in 1999 what was the main dream?A career or to do something creative?
Well, we decided to form our band in order to create a new style of music, different from the music conventions.We wanted to invent our sound using new experimentations.Throught music we wanted to express our artistic mood and inside perception.
In your opinion what attracts fans in to your music?
We believe that all our fans feel in our music the same emotions that we feel. This is our opinion.During our shows we always try to make the public part of the performance. People have fun and in our opinion this can help to apprenciate music.
Describe me your music style?
Actually, we make electro/industrial music but in many articles the definition of our music is different.Infact, we don't follow a particular style of music, we want to let our feelings create the music.This is the same choise we did to create our new album. We don't follow a specific music in it, if you listen to the songs you will find your own universal sound.This is the reason because we have different kind of fans from the industrial, electro, idm, tbm, drum'n'bass, break beat ,ambient , thecno music ecc..
Your lyrics? Who writes them and what are they talking about?
Ideology that aims Blue Velvet is a progressive way to express music without a politic background. The essence of our music express an evolution, an improvement.Lyrics and sounds are created to express the beginning of an 'alternative to the usual dogma. Infact the title of the new album "Rotation" has all the significance of this change we are experiencing very rapid “growth for growth”.
Your latest release called "Rotation" give us more details about this album?
Rotation is an album of rytmic experimentations of sound search.We have worked in the production of Rotation for 2 years making lots of new sounds and rythms.The album is composed by 9 songs. The first 8 songs are much more rythmical and melodious. The last one is much more instrumental, there is a piano with an arrangement of sounds and voices.Infact if you listen to “My sad happiness” that is like a sound track of an immaginary movie, you can feel in a deep self consideration.Rotation is an album that you can consider with two different point of view: 1) as standard listener giving much more importance to the rythmical sounds; 2) as technical listener much more interested in club generation and new sounds. 
What is the music scene like in Italy?
New interesting bands are born during the last years, most of them even conquered international press.The electronic and experimental music background has got a lot of famous bands: Bad sector, Tronus abyss,Kirlian kamera; than we have neofolk music :Ataraxia,Spiritual front,Ianva ,Rose rovine e amanti ; at least eletronic music: Dope stars inc.,XP8,BANHTIER,Alien vampires … finally we think that in Italy we have lots of good bands and the positive feedback has nothing to envy to the abroad bands.
Tell me about your live shows?What is the feeling to play live in front of a crowd?
We think that fans need much more than music during our performance, that's why we projected a light system to let people become protagonist as well. Using a software and an hardware we manage this light system on each fan under the stage.We also built particular stands where you can move keyboard and laptop.Our look is managed by the designer Sonia Jurlina. She creates clothes recycling waste material of industries like plastic and iron.During our live we realized that all the fans are amazed by the performance and we are very glade of that. All our instruments are mixed up with people in a way that they seem to become part of it.Emotions on stage are uncountables and depends on fans that are with us but anyway during the live we strongly belive to give them the better of us and we can feel this from their satisfaction.
Are you satisfied with the local press and radios acording your promotion as a band?
At the moment we are really happy of our feedback coming from important magazines, radio o webzine. They talk obout us doing many compliments for our music.Our Label (BREAKDOWN RECORDS) is giving us the right and successful hand.In France, radio Electraumatisme defined Rotation the best album of 2009, infact it was at the playlist for 4 months!Moreover there are many dj's in France, Germany, Austria and Belgium that considered us in their playist and this is very important for us!
About your future plans?
First of all our aim is to advertise the album ROTATION and also we are working very hard on increasing the spectacular live performance.The aim is to play abroad, out of Europe, in fact we are looking for a booking in America.We are working on new tracks ,with many experiments and contamination, that they just need some adjustments, but we think that will not be avaible before the new year .
