Diabolicon

Diabolicon

Fulmineus frontman of Polish Black Metal band Diabolicon gives an interview to subexistance.

What was the motive to form Diabolicon at 2008?
Diabolicon is a continuation of my activity on BM scene which dates back to the year 1991. From 1993 to 2008 I played with the Besatt band for which I composed the majority of music.
Which are the current line up and how each one of you take part in the music composition, lyrics etc.
The current line-up of Diabolicon is: Fulmineus – guitar&vocals, Chaos – guitar, Armagog – bass, Kamil – drums (session musician). As regards the music and the lyrics, I write it all myself, apart from one song from the LP with the music written by Chaos. We arrange the material together.
You have an EP so far.Give me more details about this and your new album which is about to finish?
Our EP is a kind of announcement of the LP so both the albums will be in the same mood and style. Anyway, the LP will consist of 8 tracks: 7 new pieces + 1 piece from the EP, recorded once again. After the LP is recorded I will be looking for a bigger Label which could continue to promote Diabolicon.
What was the strongest emotion when you start recording your songs?
As far as I’m concerned it’s a fear that there won’t be enough money to finish the recording. So it is in the underground ... But actually, I really care about the whole production. Well, I try to do my best in order to make the instruments sound in harmony with our minds and hearts, therefore I find our music deserves it to convey the idea of Lucifer’s perfection.
Are there any specific message that you feel the need to convey through your songs , or are you happy to leave each listener to reach his/her own conclusions?
Diabolicon’s lyrics and message are directed to the people who are smart enough. These are not the kind of “devil runs through the forest whereas we sharpen our swords for the battle of Armageddon” lyrics. Diabolicon is a modern band. We do not seek inspiration either in the movies or in the old times or in the legends or in the ancestors’ stories. Diabolicon’s message is to live in harmony with yourself, to bring Lucifer’s light and to remember how extraordinary we are in the everyday life. Diabolicon is a thought - pure, real and free of political and corporate influence. I believe the lyrics are quite obvious yet they leave room for individual interpretation.
Do you have live experience? How difficult or easy is to bring the atmosphere of your songs on stage?
Our live experience is poor so far. However, as I have done a lot of gigs with Besatt and together with Chaos I play with Dimidium Mei, it is not difficult for me to set the mood on the stage. Anyway, after our LP is recorded we are planning to give some memorable live performance.
What is your philosophy as a black metal band?
There is only one philosophy: the one of Lucifer and other related issues which means everything regarding His presence in our world. Many things changed during these 20 years of my activity. The philosophy, nevertheless, remains the same.
How is the B.M. scene in Poland? Are there any bands worth to mention?
The Polish BM scene is quite well-developed. Only to mention Besatt, Infernal War, Iperyt, Lugburz, Furia, Saltus and many others. It is really worth getting interested in.
A message to all the people that support the band?
Hail Lucifer 666
