EVI VINE

Welcome to the world of Evi Vine. A unique, talented artist, who has more to sing, than to say…

So Evi, could you pls introduce yourself to our readers providing us with some info regarding your musical past?
Hello...i'm evi...

Your debut “…And So the Morning Comes” is being released in April. Which were the main influences for this, & how was the recording procedure & experience?
Recording the album was very intense but focused and really inspiring. Steven and I work very well together and that’s rare thing to find. We recorded the entire record at home on our lounge, kitchen, using any means, totally creative process...

While listening to your debut artists like Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval & Cocteau twins came to mind. Would you agree with this?
I fell in love with the Cocteau Twins when I was 14, then NIN, Kate Bush so they are in my musical memories somewhere absolutely.

If you had to choose 2 songs from your album, which ones would they be & why?
“For The Dreamers” and “All The Beauty” - they seem to reach the oldest and most beautiful ranges of mood, like falling into a slip stream.

Which are your main lyrical themes for your songs?
Isolation, loss - we live in violent times so this is the music that comes when you see what’s going on in the world around us.

Are you following the ethereal or freak folk scene, since your music is connected to these genres?
We have been waiting for the music industry to catch up.

Are there any underground music acts we should be aware of at the moment?
Downliners Sekt, The Feral Text...amazing bands that no one has heard of yet...but they will.

Could you name your 3 desert island records? Your favorite movie?
Soundtrack to Grease! Massive Attack - Heligoland, Mogwai, Elliot Smith, Blade Runner or Splash soundtrack?!? lol

Which are your thoughts on music industry for the future? Do you think that cd format is going to cease to exist? What do you think about downloading?
The industry is a machine so it will find a way no matter what. Artists will always find their own way by pulling together, downloading. No one gets paid - music is more accessible than ever & yet all the genres generally stick to their own. There is limitless amounts of time and space for reviewers to write but it is dumped down to a few lines, short term fix's for people with fast lives....our music will hopefully last and be something that makes people stop, sit, listen...take their time...

Do you think that Cameron is capable of solving the problems that have arose from the so- called economical crisis?
Every politician has the power to change but sadly it's bigger than one man but mostly we choose to ignore it.

Anything else you’d like to add…
Thank you very much & we hope you enjoy our record x x x
