The Hollow Circle

 The band was created in 2008 by The Fly (voice and guitars) and Mr.Voodoo (drums), after many lineup changes the lineup finally became stable as a power trio in november 2009 with new bass player Ermy Styx.

The band was formed in 2008 but the roots comes back in 2003 with the project "am antigroup".Why did you made that choice and you change your sound from electronic to 80's new wave and gothic rock, rock'n'roll and  post punk?
The AM Antigroup project was a personal, home-made project, that's why I used electonic music and low fi production. When finally we created the Hollow Circle project we decided to follow the real inspiration which was Rock played with real instuments and musicans. With this final lineup and project we are finally free to really follow our genuine inspiration which is 80's new wave, post-punk music, similar to the sound of band like The Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Joy Division, The 69 Eyes, Fields of the Nephilim, etc.
What is the current line up of the band?
The current line up really fits our needs, we are a power trio with The Fly, voice and guitars; Ermy Styx Bass and backing vocals; Mr. Vodoo on the drums.This way the sound is direct and without frills and we like this kind of setting.
You already have a new promo cd “NOVEMBER” .What are the comments from the fans and the press so far?
We currently have many fan around the world and they look enthusiastic about our first promo. It's a live studio recording, sounding very similar to one of our live gigs. We only overdub keyboards and synths. We had some reviews from Italian and international press,  last one was from Lamette records (http://www.lamette.it) and what critics liked was the original mix of post punk and 80's influences, just because nowadays it's difficult to find goth band being not totally electronic and EBM or heavily influenced by metal scene (even if we appreciate this other approaches to goth music).
How difficult is to find a contract with a record label?
It's quite difficult to find a good label, specially in Italy, where this kind of music is not so popular as in other countries.We would like to record a new album whith a decent budget and a professional recording and to be financed by a quality label.We would really appreciate to have some booking service to let us play also outside our country, to meet fans from other nations!
You are working for the new album now. Give me some more details?
Currently we are working for live dates and new album, we already have new songs and we will perform them live to see the feedback from audience.There is never lack of inspiration, so we just have to find a good balance between creation of new songs and improving of old ones.
Tell me about your live shows? What is the feeling on the stage?
The actual lineup consolidated in November 2009 (from this month comes the title of our promo), the promo itself was released in February 2010 and we already played in some jam sessions in our area with a good feedback from audience.We are booking next gigs for June and summer and we will play also as headliners to see better the impression on the audience.
Tell me about lyrics and music. What inspires you?
The lyrics are inspired by real life situations, dreams and post-romantic visions.We don't deal with political or religious themes, we just want our message to be interesting for all kind of people.
What makes you different than the other bands?
As we already mentioned we follow the "old school" approach to gothic and dark-wave music and this is something that makes us different from many other bands.
What about your future plans and your dreams?
We would like to play music as our primary occupation (while currently we have to work for our normal jobs) devoting 100% of our time and lives to this project. We also would like to relocate outside Italy to become more popular and to reach a larger audience.
