Tao of the Machine project

 We are an Italian duo of programmers and we created the Tao of the Machine project at the beginning of this year. Both have played previously in bands of other kind, we have ventured into this experience as a bet, but mainly for the curiosity that we always had for electronics.

The band is new and you are members of other bands in the past.How did you come with an idea to form Tao of the Machine Project?
It was a bet more than a real project. My mate decided to become a sound engeneer, so we start to talk about electronic music. I like EBM and we found industrial scene very interesting, so we started to learn some software tools and try to play togheter.
Why are you experiment so much with music?you say we planned to do something industrial and EBM, but during our first production we started to contaminate the tracks with other styles.
We started with the intention to become another EBM project, but really soon we found what for us is the real potential of electronic music. Why to stay tied to jnust one style, when we've the possibility to experiment almost everything ?So we started to mix weird sounds to non EBM rythms, as dnb. When we have the opportunity, we don't like to limit our production to a label. We tend to be hybrid.
Tell me about your first EP?Did you have good responses?
At the beginning we produced lots of tracks, we decided to open a myspace and put a starter of our work. So we selected only four track, really different from each others.Our main goal was to see what kind of feedback we could recieve from people, and we recieved a very good one.
How is the scene in Italy?are there any bands that you admire?
By now we have more foreign contacts than nationals. Here industrial scene is small if you compare it to german one, but it's full of potential.
Where did the inspiration comes from?
When I compose this stuff I just focus on my bad karma and i always get something evil, fast and heavy.
You prepare a new album?tell me more about this?
We planned to make a full concept album, something more organic than the EP. Drunkelheit is the first track from it and you can already hear a version on our myspace.We're working on drum lines and sound scapes by now. We're going to take our time to finish it and we think it will not be soon. However i can say it will be full of contaminations and experimets.
You received several offers from vocalists, even if you  don't care much about vocals why?
Almost every techno based band has a vocalist. In our opinion voice is just another istrument. So as in some tracks we use guitars, we've planned to use voices in others.We need a spoken part for a new track called "Stay with us", and via myspace we've recived some good offers. It seems people like our stuff and pay attention to what we do.
You keep low profile and you focus only in your music.You dont search for a record deal it not important for you?
We are not into this to be produced by someone. We're focusing on music, because at the end our sound talks.However labels ARE important, because of the job they're doing for our scene. A big label offer support and visibility and it's not an easy job nowadays. Probably we'll pubblish a track of ours on a big compilation in some months. That means a lot for us, because despite the fact we're quite new, someone has already noticed us.
Do you have live experience or it is very soon for live performances?
We started our project as a studio one. We didn't ever think about performances, but now we're gearing for that.I think live sets would be the best way to perform for us.
