Upon first seeing the cover of this cd,I have to mention that I expected something else:something heathen maybe, something of a quiet ambiance perhaps.Looks can be deceiving though and exactly that is the case here:what Bionic delivers is a typical,Teutonic form of ebm/synthpop.A sound that is really popular at clubs, especially in Germany, nowadays.Bionic is a one-man project, created by Dariusch Dalili. His take on ebm is a rather old-school approach, with hints that reveal some close ties to synth pop.

Inside,"Close To Nature" you'll find 10 tracks, plus 2 re-mixes.From the beginning,it is easy to notice Bionic's qualities:the sound is perfectly clean while some of the compositions seem to be really clever and well structured. On the other hand though, there are some flaws here:the vocals sound a bit flat. Some variation would obviously help, because as time passes it is difficult to distinguish the songs.Bionic certainly holds a strong sense of form, but in the end he tends to sound a bit formulaic. It's not that there are no highlights here, though."What Could You?"showcases a great rhythm."Give Me Shelter"is in my opinion the best track of the album.

As said above though, there is not enough variation to make this an important recording, rather than a good one.Bionic certainly possessed some skills.Should he improve his vocals and also allow some space to his compositions, his next album will be great.
