Dark Unspoken - Diode In Your Head

Dark Unspoken are a trio coming from Westfallen,Germany.Diode in your head? is their third effort,also being the first one released by Echozone.
At first sight,the band photographs that are contained here,could easily mislead you into thinking that we are dealing with a death rock band. Or even perhaps,a pscychobilly trio!But this assumption would be wrong,since the sound of this cd shares nothing in common with the aforementioned genres.What's on display inside here,is a blend of future pop along with some electro/ebm elements.Their style tends to vary a bit,at  times being closer to that of a dark pop ensemble,while at others resembling a club friendly,electro infused campaign.First thing that comes to mind is Funker Vogt,especially since there are some similarities concerning the vocal style.

The songs themselves are very well crafted creating a certain balance through out the duration of this album."Buried In Wonderland"is particularly nice,being a great example of melancholy filled synth-pop,based mostly on its dark keyboard melodies.While "Abnormis"on the other hand,could be seen as a potential club hit,with its cold,steady beats accompanying some shouting,commanding vocals."Ich Mache Die Maschinen" starts off with  a haunting sample,before exploding into a collection of hard beats and sampled voices.

Unfortunately,not all tracks are of the same quality,creating a somehow uneven result.Along with some great compositions,there are some fillers as well.So,perhaps lesser tracks would make this album even stronger,in my opinion.That of course doesn't ruin this as a whole,mainly because the band possesses the ability and skills to produce memorable,catchy tunes.Concluding,this might not be  something essential,yet it is a very good attempt.Individuals interested in electro and synth-pop should definitely check this out..
