"Anywhere From Here"is the debut release of Fairytale.Something strange if one considers that this band has been around since 1994!Nevertheless,they have managed to construct their album in a precise way:indeed, most of the compositions here seem to be very well worked and structured. The style imposed by Fairytale lies somewhere in the fields of progressive metal, holding many hard rock elements though. As one could expect, since we are dealing with a progressive leaning project, most songs are lengthy and complex.

The album starts off with delicate piano melodies, before eventually turning into an up-tempo hard rocking track.Ramona delivers most of the vocals and the fact alone that they are led by a female vocalist, provides another dimension to Fairytale's sound,a sense of melody that kind of liberates this material.Another strong point for them, would strangely,be the bass playing:instead of simply following guitar lines, their bassist adds chromatic touches that push their songwrtiing forward,in a way.The album, opens and closes with "The Mirror",a lengthy composition, divided into 5 sections, which could easily serve as a good point of this band's strength in combining different elements and transcending them in other sound dimensions."Time" on the other hand draws on more emotional lines, touching this band's hard rock aspect, for sure:a nice chorus, driven by Ramona's voice and melodic guitar solos functioning as a bridge to this song.Thankfully, while all musicians here have a tendency to compete in progressive metal's virtuosite foundations,in the end they manage to develop their ideas into actual songs.Which is quite an achievement, judging by the presence of many boring,un-inspired bands in this specific genre.Fairytale at least kept my interest alive throughout the duration of "Anywhere From Here".

Thus,I would easily recommend this release to people who hold an interest in proggressive hard rock. They would not be disappointed, for sure..
