This Morn' Omina - L'Unification Des Forces Opposantes
Let's start backwards:Ant-Zen is in my opinion one of the finest labels out there. Each of their releases is carefully selected and all possible details(layouts, packaging) are tremendously well designed, almost touching perfection, I could say. It would not be an exaggeration to state that since its conception, Ant-Zen has turned out to be one of the leading labels in the fields of industrial culture and its subdivisions, may them be ambient, rhythmic noise or even power electronics. This Morn' Omina has so far carried out a lot of relases for this label and could even be considered a household name for them.
There are a lot of things that could be said for This Morn' Omina, starting from their latest album.I could easily say that their sound is challenging and inspirational at the same time.I could also say that there is a variety of all sorts hanging here:fast,trance-inducing elegies, unbelievably intense bass lines, whispered vocals captivating your essence, slower creations based on the extensive use of tribal rhythms and instruments, oriental manors, including an enchanting almost ritualistic sense.A pscychedelic, dare I say shamanic, vibe is constantly present, providing a floating, almost meditational mood that lasts throu all the album's duration. This is empowered by the fact that we are dealing with a loosely defined concept album:its themes deriving from hebrew sources on divinity and kabbalistic fragments.Something that provides an even deeper, circular meaning to the compositions presented here. Moreover,I should state that apart from the styles juxtaposed freely here-rhythmic noise, tribal techno, ambient and industrial could give some clue-the overall impression after hearing these 2 cds is a flawless one.Almost 2 hours of music and not a boring moment-now,that's brave! In the end,I would also have to add that all past releases by This Morn'Omina were spectacular as well in every sense..This,including Mika's solo stuff,a conclusion which propably indicates class.I could say all these things..But on the other hand there is no reason to:the only information you need to know is this:Mika Goedrijk and Co. never disappoint!
