Mundtot - Endzeit EP
I do not quite know what is going on in Germany, but, creating such remarkable music in that young of an age sounds odd to my ears.
Music attracting influences from all kinds of dark music, however, let us classify it as ‘industrial rock/ gothic rock’, with references entering post punk, even alternative spheres. What matters though is that they do not care too much about it, and merely are creative, outsmarting other high and mighty bands of the genre.
“Endzeit” is the opening track, which sure extracts the album’s climax – industrial rock formulas, heavy riffage, balance, color, verve, and with Tino holding a calm vocal tone at parts, while going mad at others –it feels as if he would attack the listener- ;additionally, at the composition’s calming interludes, his singing emits contempt, cynicism, which I am not to know if this comes natural or planned, however, the dude certainly knows a trick or two in order to take the song to a whole new level. On with “Gaia”, a song calm at its beginning with electronic characteristics and dynamism at its refrain with Tino gibbering and tons of rage coming from within him- it’s impressive, truly. “Wintersturm” is a gothic composition with catchy riffing, a little bit reminiscent of Rammstein, down-tempo with the emphasis put on synths and guitars, some effects on vocals, and yet another exceptional result. “Xenophobie” and the rhythms continuously alternate, one actually loses himself: up tempo industrial musical elements, melancholy, aggressiveness, and again from the scratch, but, all evolve with a one of a kind equilibrium and to a certain degree;only they do know how a mixture of 10 musical genres is possible without the slightest straying. “Haltet die Welt an”: the metal influences are prominent, the punk aggressiveness is present and a frontman drawing out his anger in whole, totally stealing the show yet again.
As one easily comprehends, this is an adept release, based on the influential multiplicity the group features, all encircled by a flawless production. The band has taken its first step in the industry with this EP;personally, I found it exceptional, and you only have to turn your heads over to Mundtot, for they are worth it.
