Noctem - Oblivion
“Popol Vuh” is a corpus of mytho-historical narratives of the Post Classic Quiché kingdom in Guatemala's western highlands. The title translates as "Book of the Community," "Book of Counsel", or more literally as "Book of the People”. “Popol Vuh”'s prominent features are its creation myth, its epic tales of the Hero Twins and its genealogies. The myth begins with the exploits of anthropomorphic ancestors and concludes with a new genealogy, perhaps as an assertion of divine right rule.
“Popol Vuh” it´s also the intro of the third album called “Oblivion” from the Spanish Black Metal band. Stronger, faster, darker…This is the new era of Noctem: new sounds, new rythms, new melodies, new experiences definitively… The tale of an Ancient culture transformed into Extreme Metal Music.
“Invictus” has been their first single, the perfect song to introduce what will come later. Harder and heavier than ever, these guys have reached the perfect formula for their new album: old school influences mixed with their unmistakable sign of identity. Songs as “The Arrival of the False Gods” or “Unredemption” are good examples of this.
Last but not least, “Oblivion” the song that gives the name of this album, summarizes the essence of the main idea that started with the “Divinity” 2 years ago: powerful and wild, its brightness will make us blind.
Hurry up, this could be your last chance before the Apocalypse!
