Vangelis Yalamas’ latest effort is a musical blend of many musical genres all compiled together in ten exceptional songs which were originally composed for the third Fragile Vastness album but the direction the music was taking Vangelis Yalamas was something more than just progressive rock so ‘Jazzment Day’ was born to appease vangelis’ need for  more.

‘Jazzment Day’ is not just a record, it‘s a musical journey of high standards, music which can take you far away. Vangelis is not afraid to experiment and risk. It is very clear that this kind of music derives straight from the heart, it’s this kind of music that would make one feel the adventure, excitement, love, passion, and mystery. As we go through ‘A Brand New World’ we come across a wide variety of musical ideas, all mixed together in a way that could easily satisfy anyone’s acquired tastes . The album’s plethora of influences vary from ethnic (‘Continents’, ‘Love Bloom in Dale’) to ambient elements (‘Two Worlds Collide’), the jazz inluence is extensively present as well especially in songs like ‘Them’ and ‘Heirloom’. Generally, a feel of ambience and atmosphere overruns the album in total which adds to it’s mysterious character. The musical proficiency is also to be noted , the compositions are complex but quite easy listening and the performances from each instrument are a standout component of the record as the progressive moments and the solos are very neatly thrown in the songs without sounding dull and complicated as many other instrumental albums.

‘A Brand New World’ is also significant for it’s very special guest who have done their best to bring the album to a whole new level. The album features two of the best bass players in Greece Yiotis Kiourtsoglou and Yiorgos Fakanas who also share (solo) bass guitar duties along with Vangelis Yalamas, Dermot Cassidy, Katerina and Tanya Nikoloudi who contribute their angelic voices in ‘Buttefly Effect’, Kelly Sol, Andrew Liles, Yiannis Fasoulakis (Dryed) with a face melting guitar solo in the self-titled song and many other notable musicians. It is a truly emotional piece of work which will please fans of instrumental music and music in generall, the album reeks professionalism  and virtuosity and it’s a great way to escape for everything that lets you down. Just close your eyes and let the music do the hard work for you...
